  1. Press Command+Space and type Terminal and press enter/return key.
  2. Run in Terminal app:
    ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)' 2> /dev/null
    and press enter/return key. If you are prompted to enter your Mac's user password, enter it (when you type it, you wont see it on your screen/terminal.app but it would accept the input; this is to ensure no one can see your password on your screen while you type it. So just type password and press enter, even if you dont see it on your screen). Then wait for the command to finish.
  3. Run:
    brew install synology-assistant

Done! You can now use Synology Assistant.

  • Synology Assistant can't find diskstation. Not sure what happened, but now Synology Assistant can't find my diskstation. Logon in web interface in Safari Mac. Hallo I have trouble logging into my Synology from Safari 12 on High Sierra. I first get a warn. By UlfLaursen.


- open Finder

- Press CMD + K ( Go to - Connect with Server)

- Enter the Server Adress : afp://Server (Server stands for the IP Adress of your Synology Disk Station)


This uses the Apple File Protocol to connect all Files on your DiskStation, don't use an existing SMB Share!

Hi I am lost,


Since I had an IP conflict within my network, I cannot connect my synology DS212 NAS anymore to my mac book pro. The strange thing is that I have no issue with connecting with eacht other device to the nas like windows laptop Iphone Ipad. I think there is still something wrong with IP addresses but when I run the synology assistant to find the NAS, the ip address is located but get's the message the connection failed


Would be great if somebody has some tips or tricks.
